DRAP Approves Pakistan’s First Two ICU Ventilators

The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) issued production licenses to 2 corporations beneath neath Medical Devices Rules 2017 to provide locally developed intensive care unit (ICU) ventilators.


According to an assertion issued with the aid of using the head of DRAP, Dr. Asim Rauf,  corporations had been given permission to domestically produce ventilators which they have got successfully developed.

The National Engineering and Scientific Commission (NESCOM) and Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) developed the 2 ventilators named “Pakvent-I” and “i-LIVE”.


Both the ventilators were registered as a life-guide machine under DRAP Act 2012 for an initial length of 5 years.

Note that the Pakvent-I ventilator has an existence expectancy of 10 years.

DRAP head earlier said, “The development of the ventilator marks the start of a brand new sunrise withinside the clinical device improvement industry”.
