Transparency International Pakistan has received a complaint regarding alleged corruption withinside the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP). with NAO 1999, Section 9, at the allegations of corruption committed the illegal appointment of Chairman and President of NBP.”

A petition was also filed in Islamabad High Court (IHC) on June 2, and later the IHC also issued directives at the end-June to do away with the 2 officials –

The petition was filed through residents Syed Jahangir, Javed Iqbal, Fazal Raheem, and Latif Qureshi. It alleged that the NBP president’s appointment turned opposite to the guidelines of the Public Sector (Appointment of Chief Executive) Guidelines 2015.

The petitioners argued that the president of the bank had a physics diploma, opposite to the requirement of a diploma in banking and finance. This made him ineligible for the put up of leader government of the bank, the petition said. ProPakistani included the order of IHC.

The letter through Transparency International Pakistan also shared that they have received the same complaint.

However, the letter also pointed out that consistent with the NAO 1999, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed several corruption references in opposition to the high ministers, ministers, and different officials and beneficiaries responsible for illegal appointments, in state-owned enterprises.

The letter advocated that the Ministry of Finance study the allegations, and straight away provoke measures to get better the losses, and also ensure that officials accountable are made accountable
